Railway handling - Power, versatility and productivity
The Aprolis road-rail range is a way of effecting the purchase or long-term rental of equipment capable of towing convoys weighing up to 4500 tons on rails, then leaving the tracks and returning to the road for the next manoeuvring job. With the road-rail equipment proposed by Aprolis you can perform both tasks with the same vehicle!
A road-rail solution is an investment 60% percent cheaper than a shunting locomotive and the operating costs are incomparably lower thanks to far better fuel and lubricant economy. There is a radio control for shunting with a single operator, against the minimum of two required with a locomotive. You will make substantial maintenance savings.
Rail mounting takes place in just a few minutes using a lifting device and railway axles. To do this, all you need is a maximum of 6 m of level rails in order to be able to use the most powerful road-rail equipment.
Mol road-rail vehicles
Mol builds special vehicles on the worldwide scale The company is more than 70 years old and designs vehicles capable of working in even the harshest environment. Great attention is paid to the choice of high quality components which is what makes Mol vehicles such outstandingly reliable working tools.
Based on its know-how, Mol has developed a range of road-rail vehicles with towing capacities ranging from between 16 and 40 tonnes. Equipped with motor units ranging between 160 kW to 360 kW, these road-rail vehicles are capable of pulling trains weighing between 1800 and 4500 tonnes.
With the capability of running on roads or rails, the road-rail vehicles are intended for use in applications demanding intensive railway wagon towing solutions. Rail-road vehicles are also suitable for driving on the road and on rail, allowing fast transfers between sites. Operating in places where goods wagons need to be moved locally at low speed (< 25 km/h) is one of the requirements facing companies with private marshalling yards, ports, cement and chemical industry, steelworks and terminals.

Change tracks quickly even in narrow working areas
For manoeuvring and turning in narrow working areas, the all-wheel steering system allows the ZAGRO E-MAXI to be manoeuvred in every direction with low tyre wear.
The rail guidance system extends and retracts hydraulically at the touch of a button. All it takes is simply to swivel all four steered wheels by up to 130° on the remote control.
Abrasion of the rubber guide wheels (Vulkollan optional) is kept to a minimum even when turning on the spot.
